Priorities innit

Turns out the government keeps records of which pubs/restaurant/cafe have AC. So I joined that with the FSA database and now you can look up whether your local actually has aircon or if you’re just going to sit there slowly melting into a sticky puddle.

https://staycool.lol/ if anyone wants it. Works on your phone, no sign-up, just tells you what’s nearby with AC.

Fully aware this is the most productive thing I’ve done since being let go. My mum is thrilled.

Edit:

1) Thanks for all the love and suggestions! The dataset definitely has a few rough edges. I’ve spot check my local area and the accuracy is at 70%-80%. Scraping will further improve it for sure but im not going down the route for now for various reasons. I’ll also leave the hospice, takeaway and office canteens there. Good to know folks in these places are not suffering the heat that much! And I’ll make search/filter work better in the next version.

2) if it turns out to be useful and you’d like to support: https://ko-fi.com/staycoollondon20681 again thx for all the love. You guys made my day better.

3) Stay cool!
