Starting or growing an eCommerce business involves a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment. To ensure our community remains a valuable resource for all members, r/Ecommerce has established a set of standards designed to promote respectful, high-quality interactions and protect our members from malicious activities.
Please Note: It is the responsibility of each member to familiarize themselves with these rules. Ignorance does not exempt you from enforcement actions, including bans. We recommend new visitors and members take a moment to review these guidelines before participating.
Account Eligibility Requirements
To foster a trustworthy environment and minimize spam, members must meet specific account criteria:
- Have an account registered for at least 30 days.
- Achieve a minimum of 20 comment karma points.
- Accumulate at least 10 post karma points.
All conditions must be met; there are no exceptions. Accounts not meeting these thresholds are ineligible to participate in posting or commenting. Efforts to bypass these requirements by creating multiple accounts or other means will result in bans.
Note: Posts suspected to be generated by AI or containing obvious AI-generated content will be removed, and accounts with low contribution levels may face additional restrictions.
Content Submission and Discussion Policies

Self-Promotion and Personal Contact: Do not solicit services, promote your products, or seek private contact with users—whether through posts, direct messages, or invitations. This includes seeking referrals or promoting any personal offerings. Violations will result in immediate removal and a ban.

AI-Generated Content: Any content suspected of being produced by artificial intelligence, especially from low-karma accounts, will be removed at moderator discretion.

External Links: Do not post links to external sites, blogs, videos, courses, or social media pages unless explicitly related to site reviews (see Section III). Promotions or referrals are strictly prohibited.

Threads About Third-Party Logistics (3PL): Such threads tend to be repetitive or promotional. Please refer to existing discussions or contact moderators for guidance.

“Get Rich Quick” and Blogspam Posts: Content promising rapid success, case studies, how-to guides, or listicles (“Top 5 Ways,” “Here’s How,” etc.) are not allowed. The focus should be on genuine, value-driven content.

Development and App Feedback Posts: Posts seeking feedback on software, app ideas, or validation are not suitable for this community and may be removed.

Sales and Partnership Offers: Discussions about selling your website, courses, themes, or seeking partnerships and trades are not permitted.

Low Effort Posts: Posts should be detailed and provide sufficient context. Vague submissions such as “Check out my new site” or “How do I get sales?” without elaboration will be removed.

Private Information and Metrics: Do not ask or share specifics about individual store revenues or private business details unless voluntarily disclosed in relevant discussions.

Unsolicited AMAs: “Ask Me Anything” posts without prior notice or industry recognition are unlikely to be approved.

Behavioral Expectations: Members must maintain civility at all times. Hate speech, threats, racism, doxing, profanity, insults, or disruptive behavior are strictly prohibited.
Linking and Promotion Policies
- You are encouraged to share links for site reviews or troubleshooting, provided they are relevant and follow the rules outlined here.
- Other external links must comply with the content restrictions noted above.
Dropshipping Discussion Guidelines
While discussion of dropshipping is permitted, posts should be meaningful and well-crafted. Be aware that some posts may be subject to limited feedback or removal if deemed low effort. For more targeted advice and community support, consider engaging with dedicated subreddits such as r/dropship or r/dropshipping.
Moderation and Enforcement
Community moderators reserve the right to remove content that violates these guidelines. Repeated infractions or flagrant disregard can lead to account bans without prior notice. Our goal is to maintain a respectful, informative, and supportive environment for everyone interested in ecommerce.
